What is it?

The Gamer is an action-adventure fantasy Korean webcomic written by Sung Sang-Young, with art by Sang-Ah. Because it is not a traditional serialized Japanese manga, the format for reading is based online and read from left to right, scrolling down instead of turning pages.

What's it about?

Han Jee-Han is a regular, gaming-addicted high school student with one exceptional difference from the rest: he has the power to view everything in his world from a gaming perspective! He can view the skills and status of others, learn abilities, and even level up. With this new found power, his perspective of life is completely flipped as he learns of a secret world beneath the one we know, where his family keeps secrets, his friends clash against the underworld, and secret local clans butt heads.

But even among this mysterious discovered world is Jee-Han's power extremely unique, one of a kind among even the most powerful people. Join him as he discovers the extent of his powers, and the mysteries surrounding himself and the people around him.

Where can I read it?

Sadly, Batoto removed the content from their site as Naver requested to have it pulled, but you can still read it from other third-party sites like MangaFox.

Final Notes

If you've ever played an MMORPG, or an RPG in general, you're absolutely going to love all the references and motifs made fun of in this series.

Looks good, although I'm a bit turned off because they had it pulled from Batoto.

I'm a bit irritated too, and it must have been pretty recent because I only read it on there a few weeks ago.

Sounds like that anime where you can't quit the game, and it's a Virtual Reality. I can't remember the name for the life of me.

Sword Art Online, likely. Or Log Horizon, less likely.

Either way, this is completely different from them.

Yeah, sword art. I know it's different, I read the OP and have seen a little of SAO, just saying the initial concept seemed familiar.

I agree with you, the concept is really similar, and I wholeheartedly suggest you give it a shot.

I just know a few people who always compare VRPG or gaming anime to Sword Art Online, like it was the godsend of the genre. There were lots more ones that were original and made before SAO novels were made, like .hack.
