This is hilarious. Pikachu and Hello Kitty have the honour of being ambassadors to Osaka to promote the city for the 2025 World Expo host.

The Foreign Minister of Japan Taro Kono announced on Wednesday that appointed popular characters Pikachu and Hello Kitty as ambassadors to Osaka to help promote the Japanese city as a host for the World Expo 2025. The images show Kono awarding both mascot characters official recognition of their status as ambassadors.

That's some interesting choices...

I know a guy who is somewhat obsessed with Hello Kitty, he has Hello Kitty glasses, lunchbox, and some other stuff.

I just wanna know how on earth that's a cat.

It certainly Is hilarious but at the same time, a very different approach that may prove to be quite effective.

Hats off to Pikachu. Always been my favorite since the late 90s.

The love for Pikachu is real! I think it's pretty amusing, and it brings attention to the city in a new way. Why not?

Those were my exact thoughts when I first came across hello kitty. Can't say I'm taken with it myself. But it's huge!

On a serious note, I definitely agree with the kind of attention It brings. I think It'll work quite well.
