Legendary Acquires Pokemon Rights for Live-Action #1

Legendary Entertainment and The Pokémon Company announced on Thursday that Legendary Entertainment's film division Legendary Pictures has acquired the live-action film rights for the Pokémon franchise. The film will start production in 2017, and will feature the Detective Pikachu character, which debuted in the Meitantei Pikachu Nintendo 3DS game earlier this year in February. TOHO will distribute the film in Japan, while Universal Pictures will distribute the film outside of Japan.

This could easily become a meme, like Pokemon GO. Even though I saw the first Pokemon movie in theaters, I don't think I could go for a live action. Tongue

This will obviously be a spicy meme. The spiciest maybe.

This is the thing - you can't just go and make live actions of any cartoon. No matter how good you make it, it will STILL look like shit. When I imagine Ash in real life I imagine a crazy-haired weirdo. Just like Avatar, this shit will bust instantly and they will lose a decent bit of profit that they just made. I wish we could like.. stop this before it happens.

Is it going to be CGI? If so, I'm going to laugh SO fucking hard.

I actually couldn't imagine this in a million years. I'm not sure if I have much confidence in it.

The last live action I watched from a cartoon was that attack on titan film. What a disappointment that was.

Live-action Brock would be great.

Live-action Brock would be a stereotype by default.

I certainly didn't see this coming so early.

Live action films are often more of a disappointment than anything else.

Oh boy oh boy. Maybe they can get M. Night Shyamalan to make it.
