I am going in with zero expectations, so I will not be disappointed. Zero expectations also leaves room to be pleasantly surprised.

It would have been not too bad as a regular movie, however, as an adaption of the source material - it is horrendous.

I'm with you. Last few live actions I saw sorely disappointed me. Although, I liked ghost in the shell... Then again I've not seen the anime, so maybe that's why I liked it.

Every group and page I'm a part of has been an overly negative response to this. Faye's actress isn't even close to resembling the character in the show. I hope it lives up to the anime, if not it will be like most live-action shows = trash. But we will see.

I still say it is possible for someone to play Faye without the bright yellow outfit. I'm less worried about the appearances, and more how they'll bring life to the characters. Hopefully they tap into Faye's history (cryogenics/debt) to make up for it. I've got 0 expectations, so I won't be disappointed either way.

I'm not expecting anything mind-blowing, but I do think fans are obsessed with things being "just-so". People need to realised they're releasing a show in a completely different medium, so there needs to be changes to the material for it to work as a live action.

On top of that, her outfit was cringey and outdated back in the 90s, which is all the more true 20-30 years later. I'm not saying the outfit is bad and doesn't have it's place in the show. However, I think they've made a wise decision to change it.

In the anime, it was a means to enhance her character. Now imagine how distracting that outfit will be in live action.

Adjusting the outfit to fit better is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Live actions need to be a bit more believable and there are a lot more nuances to characters body language, expressions etc in live actions. The wrong costume can be at odds with that because the costume is designed for a cartoon and not a real person.
