North Ireland Suspends Vaccine Passport System After Data Leak #1
North Ireland started a "vaccine passport" system, only for it to be breached shortly after being introduced. Given the records are medical in nature, this is no good.

Some users of the COVIDCert NI service were presented with data of other users, under certain circumstances, says the Department.

This week, Northern Ireland's Department of Health (DoH) has temporarily suspended their COVIDCert online vaccination certification service after a data incident.

The government body says that a limited number of users were potentially exposed to data of other users, causing them to temporarily halt the service.

COVIDCert enables fully vaccinated individuals based in Northern Ireland to obtain a digital certificate confirming their COVID-19 vaccination status.

Thats a huge fucking deal. If this happened in the states, there would be a class action lawsuit against the american government. Smh I am curious as to what will be the consequences for carelessly storing private medical/identity records.

I think this Data breach is not unique to North Ireland. In India for instances such issues had cropped up during initial days. But considering the population that India have, it was expected. There were problems with registration for vaccination. Some who have not been vaacinated received certificates. It has been rectified as per the government sources but meanwhile how many datas were breached? True, if this had happened in the US, government would have been taken to task.
