Networked work computer access ? #1
To start off I know I have no posts and only contributed by monetary means I don't have a right to ask questions yet but I'm in a pinch and hopeful. Long story short too much work not enough family time. What I'm asking is if there is any viable way to access my networked work PC without the it guys seeing me. I would need to access network folders and Madden Co POS system. As sad as it is there's nothing Shady I really want to work more while being home with family. I've spent hours poring over this forum and I've learned a lot but have not run across anything I would feel safe with. Even if there is no way I still say thank you for what I've learned so far. PS sorry for the lengthy post.

I have, and was denied based on paranoia which is crap cause I am in charge of one of their repair shops, if I wanted to steal I wouldn't be asking.  Typical corporate nonsense. They use a VNC program for tech support but I'm sure that would leave a big
flag, didn't know if I could somehow copy another ip from a differant terminal and then vnc?

I work 70 miles from where I live, my job is to handle Financials payroll accounting etc (backoffice) but I also handle the shop. Most days I am completely in the shop and paperwork falls behind. The dilemma I'm in currently is end of month end of year and I haven't matched invoices to receivers or logged any national accounts etc... I have a wife and 18 mo old son that I would rather be with instead of pushing 14 or 16 hour shifts with a 2 hours drive. In short yes it would. I give this info because I'm asking for help thus somewhat obligated and I don't want to appear shady, but that's all the personal info I will share, now I just feel like I'm fluffing my post count on a meaningless quest...

It depends how good ur IT department is, if they are stupid, then you can get in easier. If they are smart then it's harder.

I don't believe so. That would require you to set up a session on the local work machine to allow your computer and that may be tough in itself. Now if you're connecting remotely, there a several tools a sysadmin could use to view remote sessions. For example, qwinsta. Unless your admins are very lenient and don't check often or care about remote sessions, and you're not connected but for moments at a time, it would be hard. If you want a more professional opinion and possible work-arounds, try asking the sysadmin section on stackoverflow (excuse me, I think it's reddit)

Are you using windows for work?
Are you able to forward some ports at home?

Yes, Windows 7 at work, have no admin access. But did sneak in a router that I should be able to. Windows 10 at home and just starting to learn Linux... I'm probably trying to fly when I'm actually a fish lol

I don't quite understand...
Did you sneak in a router to work? If so, would you be able to install OpenWRT on that router?
I'm also curious: does that router connect to your work's network? Some places have security so you can't just plug in a new device to the network...
Also - are you able to forward a port in your home?
