In terms of checkers, they do exactly that- check for valid logins against the combo they're working with.

Netflix tracked my phone serial number for creating multiple accounts so when I tried a different email addy they said I already used the devices in my house for watching. I think it's crap they're keeping our serial numbers to our devices stored against our permission.

Yes, they should not store serial numbers without the owner's permission.

Stating the obvious, you can use a PC and If need be, change/spoof the HWID.
