Netflix Employees Walkout Over Chapelle Special #1
Comedy shouldn't be censored. Given the entire special was about how thin-skinned people can be, this doesn't come as a surprise.

Quote:Hundreds of Netflix employees walked out of work in protest of the streaming platform's controversial Dave Chappelle special. The workers, who are organized by "Team Trans," believe the special is transphobic and are calling for Netflix to remove it and commit to releasing more "intersectional" content.

Protestors streamed from the company's Sunset Boulevard building around 10 a.m Wednesday, where they held a rally to "underscore the importance of responsible content offerings that prioritize the safety and dignity of all marginalized communities," according to organizers. The employees walking out included Netflix's "Most" Team — a social team dedicated to the company's LGBTQ+ content.

"Dave Chappelle doesn't get to suck the joy out of this moment. This is a moment where we are coming together in a unified effort," activist Ashlee Marie Preston said at Wednesday's rally. "This is a moment where we understand that it's one for all and all for one and we won't stop until justice is brought."

I’ve been following all the drama with the Chapelle episode and its been very interesting. The end of the special he promised he would not tell another trans joke if the LGBT community was not laughing alongside with him. I really enjoyed the show and think he hit on some points that are really needed in this time.

"Let me just make a point about people being nice to each other"... Now let's watch the world make that point again.

He made jokes about every minority that special... but it's the ones about transgender people that got him in trouble. His comments about periods, giving birth, and Jenner are all crude but also true. If you're trans you can win "Woman of the Year" but you can't have a period or give birth. The problem with many of the Ts, is that they're trying to live outside of reality.

Comedy used to be an avenue for exploring humor, even if it was crass or offensive. If comedians no longer have freedom of speech, the next generation will be humorless. Chapelle talked a lot about his transgender friend Dorner, who later committed suicide. He talked about how she was "one hell of a woman", thick skinned with a great personality. Anyone that watched the special, knows it's targeting the easily offended.
