What do you think will happen with net neutrality? Do you support it?

Personally, I think the FCC is gonna fuck us all over and net neutrality will die. I support it fully.

Net neutrality is an important thing, imagine not being able to access SL because you didn't pay extra for the right bundle ?! I don't know about you, but I don't like censorship and bundles.

> But what can I do?
You can check out https://www.battleforthenet.com and annoy people in congress, you can protest, and you can spread the word.

Other thoughts? Comments? Screams in fear? Sudden anxiety or depression?

Okay, I'm about to fucking go off. This is a bunch of bullsh*t because they don't look at the bigger picture. People nowadays are somewhat struggling to pay their bills without this fast lane shit, and bundles, I don't think they understand that this could ruin the U.S.. Plus, what about all the higher ranked people that work for those companies, they will probably just get to have as fast internet as they want without having to pay for bundles and crap..? What the hell happens to the I.T. professionals that are managing this stuff, they will probably be able to get around this. I really feel that they shouldn't be allowed to do this, they are literally only going to be doing this so they can get more f*cking money that they don't need. All I have to say is, if this goes through, and they repeal this stuff, I just hope that they all get f*cked over.

Edit: Sorry for the strong use of language.

I heard that owner of Mega.co.nz is planning to launch alternative internet if net neutrality goes away. Not sure how's he gonna do that, but still, sounds great.

I've heard a lot of stuff like that, but I'm not convinced that it'll happen.

I hope he'll do it anyways. :') That'd change the internet gain completely causing monopolies to have to compete again.
I doubt he'll do it also.

I support the laws that equate to net neutrality. I don't support the fear mongering and slippery slope arguments people are using. I want sites like the one you linked to educate people on what exactly is going on. It's incredibly vague and misleading to just say the FCC wants to end net neutrality without any explanation of what exactly that means.

From what I can gather, which is difficult because it seems hard to get actual factual information that isn't biased about this, Title 22 is on the line here. All of my opinions here are going to go on that presumption and disregard any of the other regulations and any kind of slippery slope argument. I support Title 22 as a consumer and as someone that hates capitalism. From the business side, it fucking sucks because bandwidth costs money and treating it all equally is a hindrance. However, repealing it is going to do NOTHING to increase competition. The ISP market is inherently flawed due to limitations on infrastructure creating pseudo-monopolies where the secondary options pale in cost to benefit ratio.

I also believe we can't stop this. 99% of arguments I see disregard what IS happening and only talk about what MIGHT happen. I don't see how that's going to convince any Congressman that what they are doing is wrong.

This is actually impressingly easy to do. I had a discussion on Discord before this thread came out about how you could make a duplicate internet using the hardware that already exists in dense cities in a matter of minutes. Honestly, I'd like to see new WANs pop up. They would create a much needed form of competition for these bastards.

Honestly I can see that future of the internet. Separated between rich(brainless) and normal(honest, smart) people. We'll find a way to keep internet neutrality, I'm sure. If it comes to that I'll do everything in my power to support and re-enable neutrality. That's our right. Internet shouldn't be totalitarian place.

I agree. that's one thing the govt just can't control, even if they so desperately want to
