Multiple suspicious IPs w/ no MAC appearing on my network #1
Whats going on fellas,

I will preface this by saying first thank you for any help or assistance you can give in regards to my issue. I use IP Scanner as my free network scanner to see who's connected to my network. From time to time I've noticed an occasional 1 or 2 IPs appear that aren't authorized to be on my network. Problem w/ Guest network being open but will be closed soon. I think its just one of the neighbors or their kids either sneakernetting or accidentally connecting to me. Normally their MAC address is displayed w/ IP and I then blacklist them, can't blacklist them unless their MAC address is showing. Think its just random and not any ill intentions, my comp about 1/week will connect on its own (without me trying to) connect to a couple of the neighbors open guest networks-If anyone can tell me why this is happening as well (haven't been able to find the answer). Free version of IP Scanner will only display the first 5 or 6 connections on the network, anything more you have to register and pay for. It will tell you how many are connected but you can't see anything past first 5 or 6 connections.

Past couple of weeks I've been getting hit all at once with about 4-8 other connections that will show the IP but says MAC address is UNKNOWN. I've never had anything like this happen in the approx. 9 mos I've been using IP Scanner. Very suspicious as so many at a time are connected all at once and that the MAC address is unknown when any normal connection would display both IP and MAC. Even more unusual that its always about 4-6 at a time that join the network. I use the free VPN Hotspot Shield for mac. I noticed that the spoofed fake IP address that it assigns me has the same prefixes as the IPs that are on my network, at least the first 5 numbers. Hotspot does display a spoofed MAC address as well. Had some suspected problems with Hotspot before. Random audio "here's the secret to purchasing real estate that will make you rich" kind of thing, never any video associated with it. When I closed my browser sessions and restarted them it didn't solve the problem as well as restarting comp, hasn't happened in a month or so. Hotspot has ads and I've heard of some problems people had with them before.

Suggestions on a free no logs VPN for macs as well as free IP scanner? Can anyone please help? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, guidance or assistance in remedying this issue.

Thank you,
Octopus

When the intruder is online, run an Nmap scan immediately on his IP. Nmap can reveal the MAC of the target OS. IF you need more assistance PM me
