At first I was skeptical because of the graphics quality

Right there is where I label you someone who does't so much focus on game play and entertainment, but the way a game looks. Already you told me you judged the overall rating because of that. While I don't agree it's the best game over, or a good game at all, they ARE doing something right that they are making players become addicted. It's either the mass advertisement or the feel of a free world that gives you an entirely different life inside a video game. Which isn't the only thing that makes a game good.

I give my signature picture the invisible title for the "best game ever". Nearly everyone else whose ever played even only 10 minutes of it also does. Others who haven't played the game will not agree. But it's an incredibly good game that brings entertainment, an amazing story, excellent music and dispenses emotional feelings towards the player because of that story and music. That's what makes a good game IMO. That and a bit of challenge. And as long as you're worried about looks, Kingdom Hearts did have great graphics for the time it was out.

All I experienced in Minecraft was what I experienced when I used to play with Legos. That and a sense to do nothing. The only challenge I remember there being was your hunger. The "fighting" I didn't declare challenging either. Graphics-- I just don't care about.

I like minecraft for the freedom you have, you can literally do anything you want in this game. I think it is a lot of fun, but I have stopped playing it :p

Personally I become a fan of games with longevity, but unfortunately Mincraft only offers this for the first month of game time. You spend 2 hours creating a base to start gathering materials to create better things, and then whilst your mining with your Diamond pick, with ton's of the stuff you need in your inventory, a big mossy Penis pop's out of no where and blows you up.

Alternatively there are no games on the market that offer the sandbox infinite capabilities of Minecraft. If someone could suggest something as open and free I would be grateful as these are the only kind of game I enjoy.
