Microsoft is shutting down Docs.com #1
Microsoft will close its file storage and sharing service Docs.com Dec. 15, it said today. As a result of its $26 billion acquisition of LinkedIn, Microsoft also got SlideShare, a more popular place for sharing presentations infographics and other materials with an audience of 70 million. SlideShare represents a better platform for storing and publishing Microsoft documents.

In my views, SlideShare wins hands down.

Seldom I find or hear of those who use Docs.com on a regular basis. At least Microsoft has given 6 months forward notice, thereby allowing registered users to decide what to do with their data.

It's not a popular platform.

If I were to mention It to 10 friends, 9 would most likely never have heard of It.

I usually know about Microsoft services, and even I haven't heard of this. Don't think anyone used it.

I've heard of docs.com before, but never liked or used it. There was 1 time though that I needed to create a Word document quickly and I didn't have it installed so I made it on docs, but it's good that they quit the service, especially since it wasn't very widely used.
