I've had a small conversation with my partner and we got in touch with the license department of Microsoft subject. I've been a developer for a couple of years but I've never actually had any issues concerning software I sell. So he got into a project where he has to code an open source software for his school, things got weird after that. He got in touch with his teacher and the teacher was afraid of using Visual Studio 2015 because future projects won't be possible to be "updated" continued on a microsoft machine and decided he will go over Linux and learn UNIX and php.
Is there an opinion on this? Because after that conversation Visual Studio doesn't seem that appealing anymore.
