But my question is why did the police shoot to kill? Why couldn't they just shoot to injure him if overpowering him was not possible. These incidents of police high handedness have become very common and it's high time the police is held accountable and if found guilty, punished.

I do wish there was better training or methods to prevent gunmen besides outright killing them. However, I think it's very easy for me to question this, when I'm not an officer with what looks like a gun pointed at my face. Now to add to that; I'm a police officer responsible for everyone's lives around me... I'm not gonna let that guy get shot in the knee, only for him to reach over to his gun on the ground and use it to get one of my colleagues.

Unfortunately that's what ought to be expected to happen. He pointed what looks to me like a butane torch, which is pistol shaped, at a US police officer. This is the equivalent to putting your head in a crocodiles mouth and poking it in the eye. By all means, fuck the cops, but to do that was damn near suicidal.

I can't really blame the cop in this situation. Honestly, I don't think it would have been wise to take a chance .
