In any case, you thought that the counter argument was to make am example of those Diamonds instead of taking measures of warning them and banning them, you'd rather defend not progressing as a forum.

It seems as if thoseember spammed anyway.

With an introduction of that feature, the worst that could result is a little more "spam". Without it, we still have spam either way. Your argument is irrelevant.

You're the one named here for spamming? lol.

I agree that forums should not be run from purely validation or agreement (ironically). I'm not sure what flood time is or how it works with the dynamics of the forum. I haven't been on forums long enough or know enough about the dynamics to comment on this.

Quote:I used to think people on a forum wouldn't be afraid to exercise their freedom of speech and expression and would exercise intellect, but that does not appear to be the case majority of the time on here. I don't hate it here, if that's what you get from my thread. I hate the problem that none of you see exists.

Contrary to your belief, Sinisterly is a place where many can express their views freely. I see posts made with different perspectives and viewpoints all the time, and although I may not agree with them, Sinisterly is one of the rare few where you will not be flamed for having a specific viewpoint. In this respect, respectful validation has a specific purpose and place.

Quote:I hated the stupidity that ran rampant in that thread in the opposition of the suggestion. And to think some of that logic came from a certain individual of perceived status

I'm not sure what thread you're talking about, or the suggestion you're talking about, but fuck status. Status exists, but it should not define or intimidate users. Nor should people with 'perceived status' use that against other members. I have been on other forums, but I feel like there are not many users on SL who abuse their "status". Ultimately it's what you post, how you post it, and if that post adds anything substantial to the conversation/topic.
-if it weren't that way, a forum essentially turns into a glorified internet frat-house. Made up of a select few elitists who fuck around with the plebe populace by waking everybody up at 5AM and paddling them into the submission of some weird greek culture. I know, because the only other forum i've been active on has been shutdown because of this.

Quote:I don't need your praise to survive, but a bunch of members seem to LIVE and CRAVE off compliments and positive attention. And you guys give it to them when you hear what you want to hear. Problem?

Crave and compliments can be intoxicating. That's not only present on this forum but many other places. I agree, however, that the general consensus of a forum should be the sharing and spreading of ideas in a way which is beneficial to every user, and not just praise/validation. I don't have a problem with being positive, and as I said it has it's place in the forum. In many ways, I find issue with the way in which you present your opinions, but fuck it. Everybody has their own way to present things (but consider being more respectful, just maybe). Specifically with calling out particular members of the forum. It seems to me that this is the job of moderators, and not for users of the forum.

In other ways, however, this forum is not made up of simple validation. There are many quality threads on here. + What's wrong with celebrating success that a forum is achieving? Activity makes stuff fun.

In all honesty, it should take you more than 10 seconds to find another thread/post and write a thoughtful reply. We haven't even set this setting, it's 10 seconds by default. If you encounter the timer often, you might want to evaluate your post quality.

I am very much in agreement with Insidious here. While I know this thread is supposed to be about upgraded member perks (which I actually think is good idea, perhaps it can be put into place and trialled) I feel like it turned into a rant between various members. In future, if you feel like you're having issues with quality of posts or issues with particular members, it would be best to contact myself or other staff members. As opposed to naming people and shaming them. I respect your honesty but this could have been dealt with in a better way, in my opinion.

I tend to open several threads at a time so while I'm reading one or replying to another's comment the others are finished loading. I am all about quality over quantity but I appreciate efficiency at the same time. There are several times I run into the ten second error message. I'm not saying remove it but just providing a,valid point from his point of view as well.

I have no idea what I've done to you but thanks for standing up for this, I'll have to admit I don't know how to win arguments either.
