Given It's specs, the Asus Is pretty well priced- particularly with the GTX 960 VC.
That said, I personally would never purchase an Asus again. I'm a heavy lappy user and had 3 Asus laptops die on me. One was due to the graphics card, the other was the PSU and CPU Issues on the remaining one. In terms of manufacturer, "Acer" has served me very well Indeed. No loss of functionality on 4 lappies thus far- the oldest being around 5 years and still performing like new.

Both those choices seem pretty solid for a laptop.
Why the dedicated GPU and fancy specs, if I may ask?
Unless you're not bringing your desktop to school (which may very well be the case, dunno) IMO it's better to go with an ultrabook for the portability aspect rather than lug around a 2-inch laptop for the gaming capabilities. Shit gets heavy, especially when you add your books and stuff into the equation.
Also, what are you going to be using the laptop for? Might give us more insight as to what exactly you need.
If it were up to me, i'd go with the MSI. I like the faster CPU, and 16GB of ram rather than 8GB (personal choice b/c I tend to run a few VM's)
