I was just wondering about likes.
A way to make them a bit more valuable is to limit them on a daily basis. So maybe each user gets 5 likes to spend every day. (random number)
I sometimes find myself spamming the like button too often.
But maybe it's just me?

I know personally I'm a stickler for giving likes needlessly, so this would be nice to keep track and not hand them out like candy.

I'd say make the number high-ish. So not too low, not too high.

Is there a need to implement this? Just curious as there isn't any abuse to the system. And yes, this would have to be another custom addition.

Likes aren't significant enough to have to implement a limit. Nobody's looking at someone's post and claiming abuse.

In terms of the nature of this board, I understand your point, but I don't agree to It In It's entirety.

It's an arduous task trying to determine who does and doesn't appreciate the Like functionality. In fact, It's Impossible to speak for all members. On these grounds, Imposing a limit will only Improve the specifics of whom the Likes are given to on a daily basis, and not just hitting the Like button here and there with (sometimes) minimal thought. This Is just my opinion and nothing more.

So my decision on this suggestion Is quite obvious.

It depends on the nature of the post, no two are equal.

If It's an In depth tutorial and you're trying to determine It's quality, accurateness and effectiveness, then a lot of thought needs to be generated prior to Liking It. I wouldn't be hitting the Like button on a post (tutorial) that's completely misleading, plagiarized and minimal thought generated by It's contributor.

Likes have no value and were never supposed to. Was just a simple means of voicing agreement/thanks. Can be changed if that many people want, but I see no point.
