While I hate Facebook, I think "like" is more appropriate. Reason being, you might like a post that you agree with, but you probably won't thank the author.

I see what you mean. I was thinking more along the lines that when it comes to tutorials and informational threads, you'd be more inclined to thank the person rather than just like it.

Voted yes because the reputation system isn't quite the same. It's another method of showing appreciation for a useful or humorous post for example.
