Liberty vs. Security #1
Someone sent me an excellent image with a familiar quote earlier today and it prompted me to make this topic. With all that's happened, between proposed gun bans and the growing possibility of drones - do you guys agree with the legislature that's being put in place? I tend to side with Franklin, since he had a bit of libertarian in him.

I'd go with Obama on this one. One can't be fully safe without their privacy and liberty being affected, but then again, what is security? Anyone can just come up to you and shoot you in the head, and even get away with it.

I guess you're one of those people that'd sacrifice liberty for security.

If the government can't secure their shit, no one can.

Not really, the point of my post was that whatever one does, one is never truly safe, and if they wish to they'd have to give up some of their liberty.
Also even if security would raise in the cost of liberty, there are ALWAYS ways to pass them by.

This is true. However, if you give up your liberty you are more likely to lose both.

Sadly it is not the choice of the people to keep their liberty, but the goverments.
But then again, if the goverment gets bugged, we can always try to turn them off and on.

Once the gov takes even a little bit of freedom from you they don't stop there. They keep going like in New York. They limited soda size, cooking oils, prescription drugs, and more. Thats what the second amendment is for, they day that the gov crosses the line, which in my opinion has already happened, but for most people the line would be punishment due to talking against the gov, or public executions.
