From my idea, since purchases and donations will go hand in hand with one another, I'd say that you'd go up the next upgrade tier(s), Platinum or Diamond, because you're still donating to the site. There's still one more award after the Donator (Rank III) one which is "an insane amount of money", but I think it'll be to the discretion of @Oni to decide how much that amount is. Maybe perhaps the last upgrade tier, Diamond, should be rewarded along with receiving a new Donator reward? This is what I would suggest:

Donator (Rank 1) - Rewarded alongside donating up to Bronze.

Donator (Rank 2) - Rewarded alongside donating up to Silver.

Donator (Rank 3) - Rewarded alongside donating up to Gold.

Donator (Rank 4) - Rewarded alongside donating up to Platinum.

Diamond would be a new award altogether that showed, well, a diamond icon. The perks to this new award system would be that people who are a part of different usergroups will still be able to show off that they've donated to the site without having to use the actual upgrade userbar if they don't want to. This would also add to the special perks that Platinum and Diamond currently need at the moment.

I am happy with the Gold Upgrade. I do not know what comes with the Platinum / Diamond Upgrades ?
I would prefer to continue my support of Sinister.ly by hitting the "Donate" button once a month.
Other supporters will no doubt want to contribute other ways with other amounts.

But as I communicated with @Oni almost 3 weeks ago, I will continue to do my best to support
SL with a monetary amount around the 1st of each month, barring any unforeseen complications.

Well, I can tell you that if you donate any more, you'll get the IV award (which nobody has ever gotten).

People will be less likely to donate/buy stuff if they can get both upgrades and donator awards. It also makes very little sense, as Gold members get an award.
