Before you criticise my friend may I suggest you learn basic English grammar, also I have seen how a lot of 10 - 15 year olds act around my area they smoke, drink, take drugs etc, you obviously haven't seen parts of England where this type of thing is quite rife.

Everyday I see kids as 10 walking to school by themselves, where as in your country I'll take this as being frowned upon not everywhere is the same my friend, just the other day I saw a young girl being asked if she was lost by two Asian males, fair enough she may have known them but at the same time why did she say no and walk away as fast as possible.

Last thing now, my parents taught me not do a lot of things but I still did them why? B. It's a shit KickStarter page. There is literally a 1 line description of your goal. Doesn't have anything specific as to how you'll attain it or what separates this project from the many already out there that do this.

C. There are already a shitload of applications out there that do this. It is not a unique idea

D. 3,000 pound goal? I don't know exactly what the economy like is in london but that sounds like about 6 weeks worth of full time design, implementation, and testing. For an amazing cross platform tool? There are existing packages that have had far more development costs put into them that are more than adequate for this purpose. Still don't see the benefit of yours vs whats available.

In conclusion - It doesn't take a psychic to see this project going nowhere on kickstarter as it is.

I live in the netherlands and I am 17 years old [I know more of childs then you think].
Well too bad I know how all this shit works got it, they got it from friends and don't tell me it's the internet because it's not... it's their friends that get them into this shit.

The fact that you state "you should never assume that a child isn't going to do something stupid"

is the only fact I agree with.

A child shall not be trusted therefor it doesn't state WHY this software is "so good" as you come over to...

I stated various options to do instead of wasting money into this.
1) A child of 10-13 shall not even be allowed to go on a computer without someone being around them.
2) A child of 10-13 shall not even have an own computer on their room.
3) You have a router, Google "how to add a url filter on {router name}" and you can come a lot of further then buying software like this and be like "yay again a mail let's see whats in their"
4) Your router has several options to block things which makes browsing the internet safer.
5) Your child of 10-13 doesn't know where the history button is on your browser, they just do stuff. click the big ass red button with an "x" on it and they think everything is gone.
Check the history of your child ones in a while.
6) Ones your child grow up and see shit running like this on the computer, don't think they are going to trust you sooner or later and don't expect that he isn't going to swear at you.

Sometimes over-protecting is worse then just let them go.

Most of the tools already out there use a third party to collect the data whilst this one will use a server set up at home or some other via email.

Most other tools also have a monthly subscription where as this one will be a one time fee of $50, so no recurring payments.

Privacy aside, not a bad idea. By sheltering children and preventing them from seeing how bad the world can be, you're really doing them more harm than good. That's not to say that you should condone anything that could be harmful to your children, but using a re-purposed RAT to "monitor" them just doesn't do it. In fact, it's been shown that being closely watched online by parents can lead to psychological disorders such as paranoia (specifically feelings of being watched) down the road.

The only thing that will work in a realistic scenario is telling them a mildly "sugar-coated" version of the truth. Instead of saying "there are old men on the internet who want to see you naked", you can say "there are bad people who want you to do bad things, don't listen to them, and tell me if someone tells you to do something you know is wrong" (obviously a little more in-detail, but along those lines). That's how parenting has been done since Internet child abuse became an issue at all, the parents that care about their children can easily prevent bad things without resorting to spying on them.

As I've said @Lynux - your project is much better off becoming open-source. No application for a RAT will generate a large amount of money; there are already open-source alternatives that can be tested immediately, rather than purchased blindly.
