Is it all copies? #1
I see there's lots of content here and there on forums like this, and the content is of various topics. For example, it can be hacking, infosec, some books or even NSFW. The main question I have is, are they just getting this content somewhere else and re-post it? I know no one is going to answer exactly where the content comes from, but I'd like to know if it's original or not in the first place.

Thanks.

I think it all depends. Some are likely copied across multiple forums, some are likely 'OC' to engage with the community. Not everyone visits the same boards so posting the same thing in multiple places can get a broader range of answers.

Sometimes I may make a post on a few different forums as one board might not get any replies but another might get a lot

So, in general, we can think of modern forums (not only the "dark" ones like this), as of the sources of the freshest content on the Internet, am I right? If so, then why do some people say that nowadays forums are dying and are massively overtaken by the social networks?

Liked your point on "a range of answers", though.

I don't use other forums but I can attest that some of our best content is exclusive. Stuff that @"mothered" and @"phyrrus9" posted will not be found elsewhere, unless others copy it.

That said, information will always find its way to those seeking it. I'm not against sharing or reposting stuff, so long as credit is given where its due. Not like we're doing checks for plagiarism.

Without naming names, there's a couple people I know that regularly crosspost between SL and other sites. It's original content, but it's being posted multiple places. I don't see that as an actual issue, but just something to be aware of.
