This is actually my biggest gripe about Alienware. Due to the nuances of those laptops, the graphics drivers were entirely proprietary to Alienware. Not only that, but AMD ceased offering the non-proprietary drivers on their own site as well. Oftentimes Nvidia/AMD roll out updates and optimizations for new games. As those cards haven't received an update in almost 10 years, it's safe to say the laptop is hindered from performing its best.

This is also why I will never buy another Alienware. They're very aesthetically pleasing laptops and they offer good specs, but a lot of the features are proprietary and you're stuck with Dell's support when parts start to fail.

The drivers weren't supported by windows in 2015 (2 years after the laptop was purchased) so Crossfire was disabled and it only ran on one of the cards.

In all honesty, this is the exact reason why I had to purchase a new laptop - One of Lenovo's Legion line (I think I mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread).

Yes, along with yourself, @"oni" explained It very well.

I've never owned one, nor had the time to research as of late but both your feedback changes my view on Alienware, entirely.

It's really sad, as I loved using them, and love how they look too. But it's too much money to have to pay again in x amount of years.

thats pretty early for 32Gig! like its 2021 now, 8 years later, and 32Gig is still a luxury  Evil

It is! My only complaint was that the Alienware went bad after a while. Awesome while still new, but the gfx cards were no longer supported literally two years after it was released, which sucked. It had two AMD cards that meant I couldn't play most of my games, which means that RAM went to waste and the singular working card overheated like a mofo xD
Still, it was 7 years old and I was still using it!
haha! is your dad rich or what? xD c:

They're certainly very appealing, but compared to other laptops of similar specs, they're overpriced.

I don't mind paying extra If they performed as expected, however yourself and Oni have confirmed otherwise, so I'll stick to my Acer Predators.

Lol! It was actually Oni's old laptop. He's had tons of them over the years.

You know, I was very, very tempted to get an Acer after your reviews, but they didn't have what I wanted in stock. I'd had some good experiences with Lenovo and like their support so ultimately chose that.

One problem I have with Lenovo is the hardware backdoor dubbed SUPERFISH that they claim is for the customer and to "provide" a/k/a inject advertisements. But it also defeats any and all secure connections attempted by the user. It's banned completely in government because it:
  •   Hijacks legitimate connections.
  •   Monitors user activity.
  •   Collects personal information and uploads it to it’s servers
  •   Injects advertising in legitimate pages.
  •   Displays popups with advertising software
  •   Uses man-in-the-middle attack techniques to crack open secure connections.
  •   Presents users with its own fake certificate instead of the legitimate site’s certificate.

You can check if your hardware is affected here to be sure.

the way you talk about my computer brand is actually like a knife cutting through the skin.
dont say anything, but its actually pure condensation.
if someone says they have a computer for fucking $2.000, you dont say that it sucks.
I know youre going to say "but this is a debate forum, we are allowed to have negative opinions".
but like, if someone has something worth of this much, there almost must be some form of humiliation involed
to condescend and disrespect that person. there is just such an obvious form of disrespect here,
that Im going to be sad, be grumpy, and view this as a sign that im not respected.
you think I suck. you dont like me. you dont value me. so Im just going to keep this in mind, that im a low value individual,
feel the frustrations, and just exist. everything I touch turns to rot. honestly, I will spare you the "forbidden words".
but I dislike oni. whenever I see him im thinking hehehe [---censored----] so much. i am returning the favour
of feelings of hatred and spite.
I came here without hope. I came because I dream of ruining peoples lives. destroying their youtube channels.
taking their money. seeing my former enemies being kicked out into the streets.
getting people to break up. I came here because of my hatred, and desperate want to destroy peoples lives.

i hate you all!!!!!!!! DDDDDDDDD: <

If you came here solely to shit on people, you obviously have the wrong impression of this forum.
