No, I would definitely return it, it's not $800 that changes your life

It all depends on our morals, I personally wouldn't take the money no matter who the wallet belongs to.

Critical thinking basically. What do I know?
A wallet, 800 bucks - sweet. A driver's license - fuck, have to go meet the guy and talk.
If he's a decent human being, accepts that there is no money, doesn't whine about it, just a sorrow in his eyes, I would give all 800 bucks back. Maybe even give something on the top. You know, round up to 1000. So that he doesn't see it. Just walk away and let him have the surprise when he counts it back in the house.
If he's a half decent human being, take out 800 bucks from the pocket, look at him and say, I'm gonna keep a 100, maybe 200, depends of his personality, you don't mind right? If you mind, deal with it.
If he's a total piece of shit, I probably would keep the money in my pocket. Yeah there is thought like, but he have to take care about his daughters, but does he really do that? I don't know, tough spot. Maybe give the 800 back and beat his ass, tell him you know where he lives and if he doesn't change his crap attitude you gonna beat him again. Hard to guess the course of action in this particular option. Critical deduction. If he loses his house because he can't pay rent, damn, maybe that's a good thing. Maybe that's why he lost his wallet in the first place. Daughters would be sent to live with some grandparents or aunts or whatever. And I'm this guy who comes up, gets shit on because of bringing his wallet and money back. Making the pure souls to suffer for at least another month, when the daddy will go out again, get drunk and lose the wallet again? Alright, the best case scenario, you give his wallet back, you give the money back and tell him that this exact behavior is the reason why he lost it in the first place. Take 200 bucks at least. Like, deal with it. Founders fee.

But who knows how it would be in offline mode.

I once found 10 bucks on the floor in the supermarket. One guy at the cashier, buying vodka. I took the money and just observed how he reacts, and when he had to pay, he went like, shit, where is the money, checking all his pockets. I mean yeah, vodka pretty useless shit, but who am I to judge. So I gave the old guy his 10 bucks. And he felt like a good guy you know, with his own battle that he tries to win with a bottle, but he was you know, respectful towards cashier, kind and simple. If he would have been a dick, like "hey bitch, sell me this vodka fast", I think I would have kept the money.
