I would say with quite some certainty that this idea will not have your desired effect. The point of the dish is to focus the signal recieved onto the reciever. Changing the reciever to an antenna will likely just make the dish useless/irrelevent.

So 1 parabolic antenna attached to an omnidirectional antenna. sorry dont believe it will work like you think. What do you expect? That the parabolic antenna will boost the omni? It wont. Parabolic antennas are designed for precise directional transmissions. You might set up the parabolic to pick up the omni from a decent distance. But setting up the two like he photoshopped justs wastes all the energy. Its not going to boost the distance of the omni. Try it if you like but youd be better off pointing the parabolic at the omni a few hundred feet... or even km... and picking up the signal that way.
An it instructor did this at the school to prove a point. Had a directional antenna out his window amd depending on the direction he was picking up commercial wifi networks that were km's/miles away.
Okay for some reason o-m-n-i is censored in my post. But i am in fact referring to an omnidirectional antenna.
