A few you can try:
  • Debian
  • Arch
  • Ubuntu
  • Fedora
  • CentOS
  • Tails

All of these have different variants/rebrands out there, as well.

I would recommend using Ubuntu or Linux Mint.

Some advice. But if your lifestyle permits, perhaps try using each of the ones I mentioned for 2 weeks each. After 3 months you might decide to stick with one.

haha dont you remember, she hates debian :'D
but for all except that one, I think these ones are good.
ubuntu is generally better than debian imo, and also, Arch is better than ubuntu and fedora.
fedora is also pretty good btw, you should give em a try.

Cool

Ironically, Ubuntu is derived from Debian. As always, these things are subjective and there's no "right" answer. I've personally used all 6 of those over the years (both production/consumer), and Debian is my go-to.

In this sense, I would say that complete objective ralativism, doesnt exist.

I would say there is something such as 'the best' or in a sense 'the right' distro. but its up to us members to debate.

Further to the above posts, Install those that you believe are of Interest to you on a number of VMs, and navigate through each OS accordingly.

There's no rush, so be sure to take the time to explore the pros and cons. This will give you a very good Indication of those that suit your usability and expectations.

I would avoid a one size fits all approach, as each distro has its own quirks and there's different use scenarios. I wouldn't recommend Tails for day-to-day use and I wouldn't recommend Arch for production environments (due to rolling release). I can say that Sinisterly has been hosted primarily on Debian for over 8 years, though.
