How to tune your Double-Bass #1
So, we all face this problem. We have our Double-bass at home, but its out of tune...

Luckily, I'm here to help you out!!! I believe, this guide will help milions with their everyday problem!!!

What you need:

- A Double-bass

Preparing your bow:

First of all, you need to tighten the hair on the bow. But be sure you dont do it too much:

Before:

After

you need to grease your bow with colophane. Make sure you use only the edge of the colophane.

Grease it for a while. After you feel, that the hair ain't smooth anymore, you can proceed to the next part.

Tuning the Double-bass:

You tune the Double-bass by turning these:

So, first of all, you need to tune the G string. You can use either a tunner or ask somebody from your orchestra/group to play it for you. Remember, if you use solo strings, you need to tune it 1 note higher (that means A instead of G). Play the strings with your bow.

Then you can proceed by tunning other strings. You will use your ear to tune them. Softly push the G string with your little finger on the octave and put your index finger on the string bellow. You should get the note G but very high.

Tune the lower string until the both G's are the same.

Do this with all other strings:

Congratulations!!! You can now tune your Double-bass!!! Remember to loosen the hair on the bow after you finished your 12 hour practicing!!!

Have a great day!!!

Don't play instruments, but I'm sure someone who does would find this golden.
