How to recover (PreyProject) six digit code ? #1
Hello guys,

So i have this prey app setup on my LG G3 with 2FA (Enable) Using (google authenticator) for quite some time now, i wipe my phone due to the eagerness to try out a new custom rom (lineageOS) for my G3, i forgot to backup my phone ...

I normally back up my phone's ... anyways when i look in my phone backup folder there was a previous one that i did, so i restore it ... On that backup imagine i had prey setup and login but the (google authenticator) wasn't installed ...

PROBLEM:- on my phone i can login into prey without it asking me for (6 digit code) but i can't disable 2FA ... (asking me for 6 digit security code) -
when i try to login from my computer its asking for (6 digit security code), right away after i enter my username and password (i don't know any more) ...

ANY OPINION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED ?

Do you still have the email address associated with your Prey account?

If so, you would've received an emergency recovery code to your email address and that can be used to disable 2FA.

In the event you lose access to your online account(s), It's also good practice to keep a backup locally, for example on a USB stick or external HDD.

I neglected to mention that It's good practice to keep multiple backups of the same type.

In all my years of computing (20+), I've had around 7 or 8 HDDs fail- one as recent as a few weeks ago. Luckily I have 4 external backups. I can't see the lot failing In one hit.

Just want to add that having prey is a good thing. I've used it before and it works quite well. Didn't trust it 100% but if you ain't hiding nothing this is a very good anti-theft app.

I strongly agree with you too, when it comes to security nothing is 100% secure or safe, so i don't really trust anything ... lol!!! and as you said bro, if you don't have anything to a hide is a good to tool to have or in my case watching over your devices ... lol!!! but thanks for pointing that out, appreciate it ...
