How to do the ‘Palla’ Kawahara Kazuhiko Effect 12-25-2013, 03:24 AM
#1
Hello I have decided to post this tutorial as it creates a good effect and some photographers use it (I was doing a GCSE in photography)
Here is the Palla Effect:
1. Find an image of a building/landscape you want to use (I am using one I took):
http://prntscr.com/14qqr0
2. Creating your Layout:
I am going to be using a 2x2 grid, I am creating it using rulers (Ctrl+R) and will be setting it up so it is halfway on the x and y rulers:
http://prntscr.com/14qqtx
Then you want to get your square marquee tool and select one of the boxes as well as you can:
http://prntscr.com/14qr16
Create a new Layer then go to fill. Then select any color and fill the rectangle ( I use black):
http://prntscr.com/14qrew
Now make it a smart object:
http://prntscr.com/14qrj1
Now we want to double click on the little smart object image in the bottom right of the layer thumbnail, hit OK at the message box. It should come up with this:
http://prntscr.com/14qrsc
What we do now is create an arrow pointing to the bottom right hand corner and press file save:
http://prntscr.com/14qrzx
Close that and it should take us back to our original image. Now we duplicate it and press Ctrl + T and select Flip horizontal then move it so the image goes into the next corner facing the middle. Repeat this until all your spaces are filled:
http://prntscr.com/14qsfr
Now we click on the first smart object again and replace the arrow and background with the image, you will need to resize it. You can also rotate it:
http://prntscr.com/14qsou
Now press file save and there you go! My final image:
