That sounds like one hell of a project, you must have a good artist. I'm planning on starting half-sleeves when I turn 18, then maybe expanding to full throughout my life.

In terms of the OP, whatever you're satisfied with (and can still afford) should be where you stop.
If you're getting trouble from management where you work, talk to your union rep if you're part of one, HR if you aren't.

I'm not sure about America (or even some parts of Canada), but there's laws in place in Ontario that protect people from prejudice caused by tattoos and piercings, given it isn't an impairment to your work (not implemented for sectors like childcare, for example).

There's still a lot of stig out there for people with tattoos, often from the perspective of customers and not just management. However, timesachanging. Hopefully people will start to think about them as works of art and not a tag.
Yeah that is completely understandable hopefully they do though.

I agree that it varies person to person. Personally, I wouldn't get a tattoo unless it really had some sort of very strong significance to me, something that defined me or my personality. For example, my friend got a tattoo of the Polish Eagle on his chest semi-recently. As a first-gen Polish-American immigrant, he has strong ties to his past, doesn't want to forget it, etc etc. He thought about for the longest time (he had wanted it since early/mid high-school) and it's something which won't really change (you can't "un-immigrify" parts of your life). That's absolutely something I can see.

And really, there's no limit to what can be significant to oneself. Like, if I was really into Pac-Man, be my absolute favorite game and have played it for a long time, went to meetups, was super invested in the "PacMan subculture" i'd probably consider a PacMan tattoo.

Now what I don't understand is getting a tattoo in the spur of the moment, or based on something clearly temporary, or something that may even remain temporary (especially if it's large and obnoxious). I've known scores of people who have gotten tattoos of their SO, and ended up breaking up. In most those cases, the tattoo was small enough so that it could be easily transformed into something else, but other weren't so likely.

As for how many tattoos is too many, i'd say too many would definitely be at a point where the tatto'd portion of your body is no longer recognizable, or clearly in excess. Like, i've seen people where their entire faces are obscured by tattoo's, and I end up just wondering 'why?'. Did that person just dislike their face so much they had to cover it up?

I don't think there's really any specific number to quantify "Oh 3 tattoos is absolute limit, after that a human becomes a lizard", but more of a 'improvement-significance' ratio. If a tattoo neither improves your look or is significant to you, that's a bad tattoo, and you shouldn't have gotten it.

I'd rather have 3 bigger tattoos than 6 small tattoos.

Make sure your tattoos are well designed. After all, I would laugh at those funny tattoos, lol.
Personally, I'm not willing to have tattoos on my body.
But I do think stylish persons look more special with their tattoos.

The only thing I don't like, Is when people get their entire arm (sleeve) tattooed.

To me, It looks like a huge mess.

I got 2 sleeves all the way to my fingertips, both legs (stops at the beginning of the feet's) full back, half chest.

I would never get anything over my neck area. Someone says it too much both i don't care tatto's are like art for me.

Its funny have people always look at my fingers for example, when i look back and smile they quickly look away like i am some badass gangster, i am the nicest guy in world but some people just think because you have tats then you are criminal or whatever, but hey its easy to start convo's with girls, they always want to know if it hurts and bla bla Smile

I have always wanted a traditional japanese yakuza body tattoo, preferably with a samurai committing sepakku with the text "death before dishonor". I come from a tattoo crazed culture (Biker) and I love tattoos from head to toe is fine by me but only as long as the work is descent, if your covered in shitty tats then you are just fucked.

For me, it is weird to have a few tattoos here and there.
If I will have any tattoos, it is either one, or I would get like my arms full covered or something like that.
But personally, I don't see myself getting any.

Career-limiting move, generally.
