How do you connect to the internet to get here? Like, in general?

Suppose someone would use a hotspot, then TOR, is it normal for every page to take 8+ seconds to load to browse the web? I'm not into anything to worry about, but it seems others use additional layers and I can only imagine if my experience is this slow, how slow more layers would be at least for me.

Is it a given that anything in TOR will be loaded super slowly? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? Browsing here is new to me as of a day ago, but interesting and I want to do what I can to speed it up.
