You can setup a forums with myBB without having any prior PHP knowledge. Having knowledge in PHP/MySQLi will definitely help you. Make sure your extensions are up to date. Check the exploit-db to see if anything new is showing up that you weren't aware of.

Well that's nice. I didn't really read into it much so I had no idea. I did know about keeping up to date with exploits though. I'm really into pentesting now and networking so I should be alright.
