How Does A Casino Tell If You Are Counting Cards? 04-24-2015, 01:09 PM

I was recently at a casino playing blackjack. I was on sort of a winning streak and someone (he looked like a random person not affiliated with the place) came and put their hand on my shoulder and said to me, "You should stop counting cards, that's cheating." I'm just wondering how does someone know that somebody is counting cards? What if I was just getting lucky with my bets? Perhaps it's one of those things where it can't be proven, but you can still be accused and you can't prove otherwise. Perhaps if the casino doesn't like you they can accuse you of counting cards and get you kicked out. I was never caught by the casino though. I was just wondering how would they.

Software. Correlating your bets with the high values means you're cheating. They can also observe your behavior, and if it matches up, you're fucked. If you table hop, its an indicator. They train people to watch for the signs. Its not illegal, but they don't like it.
They are in the business to make money off you. If they have no reason to believe you're cheating, and if you're not winning constantly, why would they kick you out even if they hated you? Its more money for them.

Currently, CCTV monitoring has a lot to do with it. Seeing as counting cards is usually a group effort, it's easier to pick out on camera.
Without the use of security cameras, it's usually a challenge for the dealer to spot a group of card counters. They often use very subtle indications to alert their parteners of a certian hand.
I've seen every installment in the Ocean's series so this is hard wired into my brain.
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.
