Saying it's ok to drink vodka to keep warm for one night is just the same as saying it's ok to get drunk other than pay a debt, it's temporary.

But it's really good to hear that people do this from the goodness of their heart @@53 proud of you man.

You got to think about it in there minds/shoes. If you had nothing to look forward to everyday, no phone, no home, no place to sleep, no food, no food on your shoes. You know how hard it would be to not resort to drugs/alcohol? I'd be doing the same, trying to forget all of my problems.

$200 Was nothing, I will definitely be doing this tommorow again. (Of course not $200) But it will be a good amount.

Never have and never will give money to people on the street. No one in my country has to be homeless literally it's their choice. I could careless about them.

Probably would of rather taken the guy to the store and spent $200 on him worth of material he could use on the streets. Never know what he might do with that $200 now. Usually around the holidays I buy fast food and deliver maybe 5 - 10 meals to the homeless around my city.

That's amazing dude. Around Australia you don't ever see many people out on the street unless maybe you're in a major city, but otherwise we have too many systems to put them somewhere and help them (but they still live very poorly)

I have a few similar stories about being generous to the homeless.

Back in my home town there was kind of a big issue with the homeless, the number of homeless people increased pretty quickly over a few years. Mostly because it was so easy and cheap to get drugs and an off-licence on every corner. There was this 1 homeless dude "dancing chris" I'm pretty sure there's plenty of YT video's of him now. He's a really nice dude but he's homeless and enjoys a drink. He'd never steal, doesn't do drugs, basically he's just a really nice guy. One night me and my buddies saw him getting harassed by another group of dudes so we went over to see if he was ok. The other group of lads ended up getting off before a fight broke out. It had been raining for hours and chris was soaking wet, I had recently just got my flat not far from the town center, I hadn't decorated yet, no carpets, no curtains etc.. but I did have a single bed in there, running water, electricity & gas so I let him stay there for the night. I came back the next morning expecting him to have invited other homless people or he's eaten the food that I had in but he hadn't touched anything. He slept the night and then didn't even wash or eat the next morning. When I asked him why, he said I had helped him out enough and he felt cheeky if he just got a wash or ate without permission. I told him I had to go out again and he could help himself and get a shower or a bath. When I came back my front door was locked and he wasn't inside, my mum had a spare key so I had to call her. It wasn't until a couple of days later he knocked on the door, when I answered he seemed upset. He told me he had been looking for me for days to return my key, after he washed and had something to eat 2 days ago he went out looking for work and took the key with him since he didn't want to leave my front door unlocked. He thanked me again and told me he had a job. A week or so passes by and me and my buddies see him again so we went over to give him a little money and chat with him. He told us he lost his job because he wasn't needed any more. After asking him where he worked we found out that he actually went to volunteer at a drug and alcohol help center. Just so he could tell his story about how drinking and taking drugs when younger ruined his life. We went to the center to ask if they'll give him another chance but they wouldn't since he was still drinking.

Short story: I gave a homeless person somewhere to sleep for the night.

There are plenty other stories about me giving money, food, clothes to the homeless after the previous story. It's the next story that made me completely stop helping them. I mean I still give the odd £10 to the ones I know don't drink or do drugs but the majority of them I wont help after this next story.

I visited Blackpool for the weekend. Drinking all day, out all night. It was pretty damn late and I lost my friends and the girl I was with kept being sick on herself so I decided to leave the club. I seen this young group of lads, probably 18-20 years old throwing chips at this homeless dude. I was on my own so I wasn't going to confront them but I walked over to the homeless dude and told him to come with me. We just walked chatting and he thanked me for getting him out of that situation. He told me he drinks but doesn't do drugs, blah blah we talked for a while. I'm still in party mode and wanted to drink more so I told him i'd take him to a few bars and clubs. Nowhere would let him in, tbh I should of thought about that first haha. I knew we had plenty of beer left at the hotel so I took him back, stuck all the beers, whisky, vodka etc.. all in a couple of bags and we went and sat near the beech. We got fucking shit faced, we even called over girls to come sit with us and have a drink. I got 2 phone numbers that night because it was "cute" what I was doing for him lol. Anyway it ends up getting to about 4:30am and I'm really drunk now, I just want to go home and sleep. He tells me he has a friend who will let him stay at his place, he hadn't mentioned this friend before but I thought nothing of it and we walked to a kebab shop and I offered to buy him some food before he left. Before I entered the kebab shop he asked me if he could borrow my phone to call his buddy and make sure he is awake, I hand him my phone (iPhone 5s) and then continue into the kebab shop to buy him some food. I was inside for about 30 seconds just buying some chips, I come outside to find the fucker had ran off with my phone lmfao.

The next morning I used a computer in our hotel to lock my phone and sent it a message saying I will be sat in walk-a-bout all day and I will give him £200 for the return of the phone. My plan was just to knock the fucker out as soon as he turned up but he never did come, the phone was worth more than £200 anyway at the time so I don't blame him. Even though if I was in his shoes and would of probably done the same thing, I still don't trust any of the fuckers any more.

Yea, some people in London go out, pretend to be homeless to get money, then go home and go to work the next day

Yup, that's why I'm always weary of giving them money.

I always just give them food or something
