I've been using MyBB since the year the platform was released. I've helped hundreds of clients build their MyBB forums from the roots on up. Me and Omniscient from HF also go way back and we both worked together on several of the plugins that he's officially released on his site. MyBB is natural to me - and I'm a proud Guru of the system.

How would you make a plugin that makes X groups could change their userstars color if the stars are only text.

Not sure if I'm answering your question right - but basically the plugin would have to give permission to the usergroup(s) to change the img of the stars. Just as it is in the ACP, the members of this usergroup would be able to edit this part of their profile bit in their UserCP.

Just noticed what you said about getting help from the MyBB Community Forums, you may want to also point out if you do go there for help then you may want to make sure that you have the MyBB Copyright information on your forum or they just won't help you.
