Hello everyone,
I am currently a graduate student studying computer forensics. I have a great interest in computer forensics and in computers in general. I am no expert and I love to learn something new everyday. I also have a graduate certificate in advanced networking protocols/routing.
To share some of the things I have done for my school projects and for my own knowledge:
I wrote a batch file to use in a live CD to obtain volatile data from a live system. That batch file kicked my butt but it was so rewarding in the end. I have very basic programming skills and I am currently researching and learning more and more everyday. Python is of great interest to me.
I have used several tools for forensic analysis such as Volatility and TCHunt to locate mounted, hidden Truecrypt containers and associated passwords from memory.
I have used various forensic tools in Windows and Linux, prefer Linux for forensics. Anti-Forensics is also a great interest I have. Just last week I conducted some analysis on an image of a USB drive, which contained deleted images and stenography. It was really interesting to analyze the image using Foremost, stegdetect/stegbreak and other tools in order to discover the evidence for the assignment.
My classes are very hands on and always have associated lab assignments which are great for learning new methods and tools for forensic analysis.
I look forward to meeting you all and discussing all these interesting topics on HC.
Cheers.
