I actually used to be very careful, especially when doing transactions online. However, inspite of how careful I had been, I still got scammed. I was hired by an employer on Odesk but they didn't want me to work on the Odesk portal and just communicate through skype. They promised to pay me every 2 weeks, but at the end of my first 2 weeks, I didn't get anything and they all disappeared on skype.
