1st off, I do agree with this. Even though I wasn't around, or interested in hacking too long ago I started my interest in hacking around the middle of 2014 I can say that I think it was a lot easier to hack back then, as stuff wasn't as secure I could be wrong.

This complicates things, because there are a lot of KIDS on the internet nowadays, chances they'll join a forum or whatever is pretty high. Now they don't know much about IT and will probably look like skids. That's totally fine. We all started like that some day. The problem however, is that millenials DON'T want to LEARN but they want to EARN.

2nd off, this kind of goes along the lines of the first quote, but @Bish0pq is very correct about how just about every 8 year old has a laptop or some kind of phone. Parents these days don't want to, or won't let their kids purchase stuff like in game credits, etc, and the kids don't have their own money to pay for it, so they come to forums with the idea of what they think hackers talk like "Can I getz some ROBLOX HAXXXXXXX PLZ????????" and it makes them look even more skiddy.

(10-26-2017, 08:40 AM)Bish0pQ Wrote: They're more interested in doing damage with viruses and social engineering for cold hard cash. That's fine, but on a forum like this it doesn't really get appreciated cause the core members here usually want to learn. It's not all about getting money out of something you know, but a lot of millenials don't get that and this poisons the forum(s). After that this will cause that most threads are just questions and asking for stuff they need instead of writing actual usefull tutorials and because of THAT it's possible that the "core members" who can provide good, quality content will lose interest in the forum because they can't learn anything anymore from people so they'll move on.

I will be honest, I was like this when I first learned about it, kids want to RAT people just for fun, and "show off", I mean, it is "showing off" but its not really at the same time. Also, they are wanting to social engineer for benefit, I will say this: I would like to S.E. one day, but not for benefit, I want to do it just for the fun of it, or even to help prevent it by in the end telling the company what how it happened.  On the point about people just coming to forums to ask question, I agree with that, they either don't google their question first, or they don't do research. Kids these days want what they want "RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW" and they don't have good patience or research skills, thus they come to forums to ask their question without doing their research, and that can "spam" up forums, they also don't want to take the time to look through the thread categories for at least some kind of answer, or if they do, they gravedig because "The link won't work, im gonna CRYYYYYYYYY  Sad ". "the "core members" who can provide good, quality content will lose interest in the forum" they do for that reason I just stated. Now, there are still people like @phyrrus9 that want to make very HQ posts, and thread tutorials, which I absolutely love.

In contrary, there are millenials like @"Synthx" for example that are doing their outer best to post HQ content and being friendly to everyone and I do really appreciate that. I'm not that old myself either, but I feel like the interest in IT is growing but decreasing at the same time, if that makes sense to some of you.

I would say the exact same along the lines of "NOT saying every millenial or everyone is like this" because it is very true, every once in a while we get people like @ZanGetsu that come to specifically share tools.

@Bish0pq lol, you're damn right im trying my outer best, I worry myself to death all the time about "am I either gonna get banned, or reported for this being too LQ." and it makes me not want to post as much. I really do try my hardest to make as HQ posts as possible. I really am going to need some help when I start sometime soon doing reviews of stuff I find on GitHub, or hardware for example, what I posted yesterday about the Packet Squirrel.

Now, I would like to mention @"Dismas", you are raising the best technology forums on the internet, and I really hate that we get people like stated all above.

Very well said man. I do want to draw attention to your
Quote:every milenial is not like this
because you're absolutely correct. remember that, being born in 95, I fall in that group as well. With SL you often get out what you put in, but don't expect it to be immediate. I started writing my hardware engineering stuff years ago, and I'm just now starting to see members interested. I may have inspired them, maybe not, it doesn't matter to me. Loads of people like the things I put out, even if they just lurk on it.

It's always worthwhile to write stuff that may go over members' heads. Way back when I was still in uni, I used to force my upstairs neighbor to sit through me teach him assembly. He was a manufacturing engineering major, so the chances he'd ever use it were slim to none, and he really didn't listen very well. Turns out, 3 years later he had to take an assembly class, and came back and told me that because of all my late night assembly rants everything clicked with him when it came time to actually learn the stuff. I had provided some sort of foundation for him to grasp things on.
