Perhaps it is easy to forget that happiness does not = being in a relationship?

However, for me, I have been at my happiest with Oni. Gutted our plans were screwed, but we can enjoy time together when I'm back. Valentines is a nice idea, but it's still just a day in the year

As with all major commemorative days of the year, I certainly agree with you about Valentine's Day.

In terms of relationships, I've had many that were wonderful at the time filled with love and happiness however due to my hectic computing lifestyle (nowadays), I haven't the time for a partner. Literally speaking, to keep the continuity of my tasks, at times I skip through dinner. That aside, It's wonderful to read the healthiness of your connection with Oni. It can be very difficult finding and keeping a steady relationship.

No plans nor any celebrations whatsoever. Perhaps It's due to the fact I don't have a partner?

On a serious note, Valentines Day was a lot fun when I was dating. I really enjoy the outing and the gifts from both ends. Due to my lifestyle nowadays (Intensive computing), I haven't the time for a partner and If I did, she'll probably leave me within a week.

Agreed. I never thought I'd see the day where my post about laying in my underwear, carefree, hitting the gym and then going to bed would be quoted to signify a sad world. Really doesn't get much better.

I'm not speaking for Jiggly's case, but there's a lot of students at my work here on visa and when It was nearing expiration, they've all extended It.

I'm also not sure on the types of visas and whether all work In a similar way.

She's no longer a student, technically. What happened could have been avoided, probably. She'll be back in a couple weeks/months after she gets a new one. I don't know that much about it, really.

It may well differ with students, I'm not too sure myself.

No doubt you'll have a better understanding once she gets a new visa.

The US visa system is a complicated one. There was a miscommunication between myself and the university about work authorization, which ultimately lead to me missing deadlines for extending my time under my student visa in order to work in the field in which I studied. The only ways for me to get a permanent visa is to marry someone, or apply as an immigrant and hope that I get selected as one of the thousands of applicants in the US's quota-based, and 5-10 year long, immigration process. One can be on a work visa, which is for 3 years, with a max extension to a total of 6 years.

tl;dr - I messed up a deadline for work authorization to extend my stay for max 12 months. It's very difficult to get visa's or permanent residency.
