British police are less-trained, can't carry guns, and aren't able to even do pursuits early on. Our police probably won't even bother with a case like this. I doubt yours would either. Keep in mind, this kind of stuff is also across state lines.

While I agree about police not bothering with this, it should also be noted that British police don't go around randomly shooting civilians. Also, the ability to carry weapons isn't really relevant here.
