Did you have an alternate competition in mind? perhaps something like http://rootthebox.com/
Yeah, but the problem with that is that it is a classroom event, not an online competition if you have read the page...

We have tentative plans to allow competitors to VPN into the local network if they are not in the Phoenix, AZ area but at this time we have not implemented it so you must be on-site to play.
I'm currently past 2000 pts on this one with my current team, but it doesn't matter. Starting at any time is better than not doing anything. We could even do past event challenges.
Ah sorry, i did not read the page. there used to be a similar, or perhaps the same, domain years ago that allowed teams online... but this is going back to like 2003-2006 that i last used it lol.
Nonetheless it looks like a cool event, and I've never heard of it before. I would expect that in the future they become online-based however (since that text hints at the fact that they are getting something set up for online participation), so I'll keep tabs on that one.
This one ends in about 1500 seconds though, so now there's hardly enough time to complete one of the harder challenges.

I posted this for visibility moreso, to get a tally of some people who may be interested in the near future. There was a fun .NET challenge on this one as well that I may repost here. They've got some interesting obfuscation going on in that binary, but it wasn't too difficult to get the key still.
