It certainly doesn't make sense.

On the principle of giveaways, my Avast Antivirus popped up with a message of: "Open your free gift". It was a 40% discount on one of their packages. Evidently, they're not aware that a "gift" Is a present- received without any form of payment. It makes you wonder how these entities continue to operate.

This very thing has frustrated me for years. However, since it's been going on for years, and companies are doing it frequently all over the world.. it's become a "norm". There are too many protections for companies for them to be told off over some poor phrasing. Shame.
