Spoiler:
The Chromebook 11, designed by Hewlett Packard, is Google's latest budget laptop designed to act as tablet alternate to those users who want to stick with a physical keyboard. The laptop weighs just over two pounds and in either white or black and a range of coloured trims including blue, red, yellow and green. The device runs Google's own Chrome operating system that relies heavily on web-based services, such as Gmail, Google Docs and Google Calendar. This reduces the memory that's required by most applications that come installed on many other laptop machines.

An executive at Google, Ceasar Sengupta, said that the laptop was designed to be "really thin with no extra fluff," referring to the device as "one of the lightest laptops on the market." Sengupta went on to talk about the company's drive to design "computers that are simpler, more secure and more affordable, for everyone."

The Chromebook houses a 11.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1,366x768 pixels, a smartphone-style micro USB charging port, and a dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 processor. The smartphone-style micro USB cable means the user only needs to carry just once charging cable that will be able to charge both their smartphone and Chromebook. It will also have speakers located underneath the keyboard rather than laptop, and will provide sound quality that is "crisp, clear and pointed up towards your ears." The battery life is expected to last six hours.

Price is a huge factor when considering a laptop purchase, and the Chromebook doesn't disappoint. The device cost just $279 dollars, or £173 pounds, and acts as a perfect device for those who require a laptop at school. For those who wouldn't use the Chromebook in a school environment, the device offers a great way to seamlessly surf the web without the added weight of larger, bulkier machine. The device is available for purchase in the UK and US starting from today and will be available in other markets by Christmas.

Personally, I'm thinking about getting this as a secondary PC due to the fact it's very cheap. I would only use it on various occasions such as watching a movie whilst travelling or lounging about on the sofa.
