Good tips on starting a forum? #1
I'm thinking about starting a forum soon and I want to know what to do to keep it as alive and successful as much as I can.

Its not easy. There's honestly to many forums out there that are the same. Small forums end up getting bought out by the bigger ones.

You will need quality post, active members and good staff.

You will need money as well.
Spent 8 months working on alphas and now it is known as realityforum, and is now only really getting around to growing really big. I dedicated myself.

then you probably shouldn't be starting a forum
then again I did start my first forum when I was 12, which was like 5 years ago, don't remember much about what I did with it.

You need a lot of funds to make it work.

You will need
  • Hosting(VPS preferably some form of DDoS protection.
  • Custom designed  theme(no big forums have ripped or standard themes.
  • PHP/HTML/CSS knowledge to sufficiently modify your forum.
  • System administrator knowledge to manage your servers and understand how it works.
  • Advertising money
  • Contest money
And a lot more.
