You don't really learn to program... CodeAcademy teaches you the syntax of a language, that's it. You don't really learn the key parts of programming, such as trouble shooting and creativeness.
That's the free source I guess, I have learned everything from there. Yeah, also from friends and other ppls.

My believe is; if you want to learn programming, you have to do programming. Pick a project and simply start coding and learn what you need along the way. You don't really do that with CodeAcademy. They show you unrealistic use cases, which you'd never use in the "real world".

You're right, but it can help if he wants to learn the ''mattery''.
