What are some good games that require thinking strategically about the future?
I personally like the Civilization series - very much strategy is required...

StarCraft 2 is one of the best RTS games out at the moment, you should try it out!

I would say Commandos 2.
That game needs ALOT of planing. Lol
You fuck up and you are good as dead.
The mod is 1000x harder than the original but get the original game first.

Depending on the Mode, Set-Up and which one you choose to play, the Command & Conquer series can be quite long running and IMO endlessly fun. I generally play 'C&C: Red Alert 2 - Yuri's Revenge' and games can last anything between 30mins and Weeks, depending on how you play them.
It's definitely a classic strategy game that I've always enjoyed, you should check it out if you haven't already!
