Welcome aboard. Not many can claim they were Social Engineers 30 years ago, though the concepts and attitude remain the same.

I guess so.  I always just called it a hustle.  If it wasn't getting 6 CDs for a penny, it was making my own fake ID and wholesale license so I could buy candy bars  at cost and turn around and sell them for 5 times what I payed because they were for a "fundraiser" and who doesn't want to buy a fundraiser candy bar from a kid.

Using Early AIM and Prodigy Chat Rooms to pretend I was a unhappy housewife and all I needed was a couple hundred bucks so I could have money to leave my husband.

Forging signatures on baseball, basketball and football c*a*r*d*s  (Not sure why, but it wouldn't let me post this without changing that word) and selling them to the two shops we had in town.  Because you know, when you talk it up that you are going to game on a particular night and then the next day or two you come back in with a few signatures like I always did and then sell them off.  Back then, Beckett Magazine never told you how to spot a fake.  The funny thing is that I hate sports and I think its a waste of time.

When you would get a price check on an item at Walmart, they would give you a receipt because Walmart had a system where a price check was basically a sale in the system and a Manager would have to void it out in the system.  So you get a price check, and they would give you a receipt, they would void it out of the system but you still had basically a sales receipt.  The only thing that it didn't have on it was how you paid and no one would check that.  It was all about checking the item on the receipt and not the sale.

I love finding the loophole, because usually there is always a loophole and if there isn't, a good story and the right hardship will create that loophole.  I always say that nothing is ever perfect and a process no matter how tried and true it is, can always be improved.

A little about me.  I recently left my job as Plant Superintendent of a corrugated packaging manufacturer after 20 years.  Simply Put, we made boxes.  I couldn't  do the upper management corporate shit anymore.  I was a supervisor within my first year and I just kept climbing up that ladder.  The more rungs you climb the more lazy and backstabbing the people become.  Besides the corporate structure which is seriously flawed my reason for leaving was because I didn't feel right having to tell people things that I didn't agree with and no one else followed that shit above me.  The hardest working people were the ones on the floor and at the machines, not the old boys club that had lunch at all the nicest places everyday for lunch.  Year after year, whether it be some stupid policy or shitty raises, I didn't agree with none of it.  It wasn't fair.  That is my only rant that I will post, that life is behind me and I'm not sure what the future holds but I'm here for the ride and anxious to see what adventures I can get myself into.

SO basically that is why I joined the community, to see what opportunities I find or present themselves.  I'm trying to get a website going and I'm not the type to pay retail for anything so that is the reason I stumbled across the nulled sites. Which led me here.  I never knew until about a month ago that Social Engineering was thing.  I've been doing that since I was about 10 years old (I'm 40 now) and I started to SE Columbia House and BMG Music for CDs.  Always under a different name, but always coming to my house.  When someone investigated it after 2000 CD's were acquired, My mom looked at them and told them "the boy is only 11 years old, are you planning on prosecuting him because it seems to me that maybe you should have a better screening process".  I thought to myself "WOW", that was too easy.  Its been on ever since.  Never did it for anyone else to make money, outs always been about me getting refunds or getting double or triple items.  Like I said, I never knew there was whole community to such things.

Thanks again to everyone who reached out to say hi, that's pretty awesome.

Awesome, great to see another experienced social engineer! Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy your time here - I sure have been! I've been SE'ing for a few years and ever since joining this forum I've been learning way more about how everything works, mostly thanks to @mothered, but also from other users as well!

Out of curiosity, are you currently unemployed and looking for another full-time job? Planning on cruising with money making methods you find online? Are you mostly here for the SE, or are you interested in cracking/ hacking/ programming/ etc.?

I am currently an unempoloyee and I do not plan to go back and work for anyone but myself. I don;t ever want to punch a clock again. I like to to learn and observe, if something jumps out at me and I can make it better or If its something that I feel like I can do well, then I explore it until something else takes my attention or I get bored with it. So really my interest is what is going to better my situation or if I can team up with someone to make it happen, then thats what I want to do.
