Good, fuck China.
While he's at it, why not take Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit off the internet too and put Google out of business? We'll use Minds, Gab, Bitchute and DuckDuckGo instead.

Facebook and Google are also banned in China.
They are just doing this PR shitstorm in order to force ByteDance to sell it to a US-based company like Microsoft.

I am not a fan of China (not necessarily the people, moreso their government practices), but I don't really agree with incessant bans.
I feel like agreeing with a ban based on something like pubg 'because people are addicted and are exhibiting poor behaviour around these games' is a poor reason. The problem isn't the game, it's a person's self-discipline and self-restraint. That speaks to a deeper problem that's not going to be resolved by banning a piece of entertainment. Especially considering there will always be something else to replace it. Fix the root of the problem, not the symptoms.
Putting that aside, I would like to be able to understand what Trump/ the USAs government are looking to achieve with these bans? What's the long-term goal? What are they expecting to happen and how likely is that outcome? These questions aren't a criticism - I legitimately don't know. If anyone has any insight, I'd really appreciate it.
