They're banned In a few countries- some with restrictions, and others entirely.

In fairness, when you get a drone in the states, it comes with a lot of rules and warnings. If you live within 5 miles of an airport/runway, you're supposed to notify them every time you fly it. I imagine someone will be in some very deep doo-doo if they get caught.

From what I read the survival odds on drone collisions are pretty good. I don't think anyone has died from one, though helicopters and whatnot have been damaged.
