Germany to fingerprint kids and spy on them #1
Germany is planning a new law giving authorities the right to look at private messages and fingerprint children as young as 6, the interior minister said on Wednesday after the last government gathering before a national election in September. Ministers from central government and federal states said encrypted messaging services, such as WhatsApp and Signal, allow militants and criminals to evade traditional surveillance. Expected.

Good luck getting rid of encryption you bastards. I'll make an encrypted chat program just give you a hard time with that.

Well as of now they're only planning to do this, nothing is set in stone.

Also:
"Austria is also planning laws to make it easier to monitor encrypted messages as well as building out a linked network of cameras and other equipment to read vehicle licence plates." - America has been doing this for a while now, and those who pay attention know this. Now you probably think, at this point, that I'm a conspiracy nut but look up the programs. PRISM, SIGINT, Blarney, etc.

Overall Germany is just being more open about it which, honestly, is better than the US sometimes does.
